If the system cannot answer “what do we need to see, and for how long?”, equipment selection becomes guesswork.
Map the zones that matter
Walk the site with arrivals, cash or stock areas, corridors, and perimeter edges in mind. Note lighting conditions and whether cameras must identify faces, plates, or only movement.
Decide recording and remote access early
Retention needs, storage location, and remote viewing requirements affect recorder choice and network design. Remote mobile viewing is possible where the network and equipment support it.
Plan cabling with the fit-out
Cabling is far easier before ceilings close. If a renovation or office fit-out is underway, coordinate surveillance pathways with the rest of the works.
